If you want to find out more on the subject of Estuary English and it's linguistic impact, Prof. John Wells from University College London has an Estuary English Page containing a number of interesting documents on the subject. Highly recommended.

Vietnam Veteran's Terminology and Slang - An interesting page that illustrates how war can provide a real melting pot for slang terms.

If your French is better than mine (!) you may want to take a look at Dictionnaire Argot Francais. Patrick Lecrosnier the Webmaster says "It's the best french slang dictionary. We have 18,000 words and expressions (with explanations)".
